We'll just call it yucky. A new trend has parents turning their baby's umbilical cord stumps into wearable jewelry. Taking an umbilical cord stump and throwing it in a scrapbook or shadowbox might be an interesting way to safe keep a piece of your kid's childhood. But wearing it? Some parents have explanations for keeping the grubby stump.

One woman on the BabyCenter thread said: "That little black stump represents the connection that I and my daughter had for 9 months. It's a miracle and there is nothing wrong with wanting to preserve that memory."
