Hypertension is called the “silent killer” and we already know that smoking can bring on an early grave, but there’s one thing many do that is far worse for our health.
According to a nearly three-decade-long study, poor diet is killing more people worldwide than cigarettes or high blood pressure.
A lack of eating healthy foods like whole grains, fruit and nuts, and seeds, combined with a high intake of sodium was found to be more dangerous than even trans fats, sugar-sweetened drinks and processed meats, the study published Wednesday in the Lancet said.
Poor diets claimed the lives of around 11 million people globally in 2017 alone, the results showed.
