Sad news emerged Thursday, as the Celtics announced the passing of team legend and NBA Hall Of Famer John Havlicek.
In a press release, the team said, "John Havlicek is one of the most accomplished players in Boston Celtics history, and the face of many of the franchise's signature moments."
Over his 16-year career, the 1974 Finals MVP was named an All-Star 13 times and has been declared one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. The team retired his number 17, which hangs from TD Garden's rafters.
According to a report from the Boston Globe, the 79-year-old had been suffering from Parkinson's disease.
