Matt Duchene and the Nashville Preadators have agreed to a 7-year deal.According to the National Hockey Leagues, the Nashville Predators and Matt Duchene have agreed upon a 7-year $56 million dollar deal.

July first marks the first day of free agency and there are many of players that have signed contracts today.

Matt Duchene, who, clearly was the biggest free agent center of the offseason has officlally decided on a contract.

The recent trade between the Devils and the Predators has cleared up enough cap space to allow both Duchene and the Predators to get to this deal.

Last season, Duchene split time between both Ottawa and Columbus.

In 73 games last year, Duchene scored a total of 70 points. Duchene also helped the Blue Jackets reach he second round of the playoffs.

Duchene has been a consistent center since joining the league in 2009-2010. He also makes the Nashville Predators a better team then they were last season. They now have more help on the power play and help at center.

By the time the deal is over, Duchene will be 35.
