Without even having a team name, Seattle’s new NHL expansion team already has its first general manager. Ron Francis, the former Pittsburgh Penguin is fifth all-time in points in NHL history.

In his 22 year career, Francis won two Stanley Cups and played 1731 games.

Francis has previous GM experience starting with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2014. He was relieved of his duties in Carolina early in 2018.

The deal is said to be for multiple years. The first two years of the deal Francis will be preparing the team to draft next June and play in October of 2021.
