Week one of the NFL preseason was introduced yesterday as 11 games helped kick it off. The Carolina Panthers took down the Chicago Bears by a score of 23-13.

Carolina started the first quarter with two field goals from kicker Joey Slye, the former Virginia Tech placekicker. The field goals were good from both 33 and 37 yards.

Without scoring any themselves in the second, they surrendered both a touchdown and a field goal to put them behind 10-6.

A touchdown and field goal of their own in the third is what was able to secure them the victory.

Even though the Panthers were ahead late in the third, they were able to score another touchdown for security, in case the Bears had anything left in their tanks.

Three Panthers Quarterbacks made their preseason debut during yesterdays match up.

Taylor Heinicke went 4/9 with 35 yards, Kyle Allen went 7/11 with 76 yards, and Will Grier went 9/16 with 77 yards and a touchdown.

Elijah Holyfield was the star of week one for the Panthers though. With two touchdowns, one receiving and one rushing, he is looking to make a name for himself and fight his way onto the week one roster.

The Panthers will next play the Bills on Friday, August 16th here at Bank of America Stadium.
