Emergency Resources To Know For Hurricane Readiness
We’ve got your need to know numbers and resources for Charlotte residents.
Gov. Roy Cooper (D) on Sunday declared a state of emergency in North Carolina ahead of Hurricane Dorian. Charlotte will start to feel Dorian’s effects later this weekend.
As we prepare for that, here are some emergency numbers:
- Call 911 for any life-threatening emergency
- For information about emergency shelters and more, call 211 (or 888-892-1162) or the American Red Cross of the Greater Carolinas Region in Charlotte at 704-376-1661 (press 1 for emergencies) or view the Red Cross’ website for up-to-date information about what shelters are open
- Contact Duke Energy to report a power outage at 800-228-8485 or you can text 57801
- Call 511 for news on road conditions or dial *HP for the Highway Patrol in emergency situations
- For non-life threatening emergencies call 311
Where to find the most up-to-date information:
