The AB Saga Continues…
AB… What is you doin baby?? Antonio Brown continues to do one thing, and it’s not what the Raiders are paying him for.
Antonio can’t seem to help himself. Instagram, Twiter, and even Facebook Live. It’s always at the center of his issues. There’s no denying that AB is one of the best to ever suit up at his position but at what point is all of the extracurricular stuff, no longer worth it? For the Raiders, that time may be coming sooner rather than later. After his latest antics, it was reported that Mike Mayock and the Raiders are trying to figure out if they can void his $30 mil guaranteed. But with reports coming out today that he issued an “emotional apology” to the team and there’s a real chance he plays Monday. The plot thickens.
Recap
March 13th: AB is introduced in Oakland. Brown said “I bring accountability. I bring actions. Not what Isay, what I do. How I approach things.”
May 28th: Brown is impressing coaches at OTA’s and seems to be getting along with everyone in the organization. “It’s never a dull day with Coach. Always challenging, always high energy, and always detailed and fundamental in regards to our assignment.”
July 25th: AB shows up to Camp with frostbitten feet. After a Cryotherapy appointment in France goes horribly wrong. Brown didn’t wear the proper footwear.
July 30th: Brown completes the first half of practice but leaves early to get treatment on his feet and files a grievance to keep his old helmet.
August 13th: Brown returns to practice in Napa, California and is happy with the organization’s support of him.
August 18th: After losing his grievance, Brown leaves practice early again and is fined 40K for his unexcused absence. Mayock says its time for Brown to be “All in or all out.” Brown returns the next day, appearing to be all in.
August 25th: AB loses his second grievance but Brown seems to be eager to pick a new helmet and move on.
September 4th: Brown posts a picture of the fine he received from Mayock, with the caption “when your own team want to hate.” He had accrued 53K in fines over the past 2 weeks.
September 5th: Mayock and Brown have an exchange of words at Raiders facilities and reports come out that Oakland is looking to suspend Brown for conduct detrimental to the team.
Today though, it appears that Brown is showing remorse and would like to move forward and play football for the Oakland Raiders and his agent Drew Rosenhaus has been working to mend the relationship. The Steelers have to be happy to not have to deal with Brown’s antics anymore. But if Brown has another dominant season that leads to a playoff birth, this offseason will just be a footnote on what has otherwise been a stellar career.
