The Carolina Panthers released their final Injury Report for their Week 3 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals (0-1-1) on Friday.

Cam Newton has officially been ruled out for Week 3 and Kyle Allen will get his second start with the Panthers. Cam Newton suffered a foot injury in his only preseason outing against the New England Patriots. Newton re-aggravated  his foot injury in Week 2’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. The following Thursday Head Coach Ron Rivera left his press conference early after receiving questions about Cam Newton’s health.

“I’m not going to talk about it any more guys. Let’s talk about Arizona,” Rivera said. “I haven’t really talked about Arizona, so it’d be good to answer those kinds of questions.”

The next question a reporter asked after Rivera made his request was about Cam Newton. Rivera decided that was enough for the day.

Dating back to last season, the Panthers have lost 9 of their last 10 games. The only game they won during that span was against the New Orleans Saints with Kyle Allen as the starting quarterback. The Saints were resting most of their starters because they already clinched a playoff spot but Allen showed us some good things in the final week of the 2018 season.

The Panthers won 33-14 and Allen went 16-27 throwing for 227 yards and 2 touchdowns. Allen finished the day with a 94.4 QBR.

Ron Rivera and the Panthers have expressed confidence in their young new starter saying he is a great decision-maker. Kyle Allen had a message for Panthers fans going into this week’s showdown.

Allen will try and get the Carolina Panthers their second win in 11 games. Kickoff is this Sunday at 4:05p.m.
