Oprah Winfrey stunned the attendees for the United Negro Fund in Charlotte on Saturday with a $1.15 million donation at the Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon.
Organizers were hoping to raise at least $500,000 to help area student attend HBCUs. While Oprah was speaking to the crowd, she learned that $1.15 million had been raised and then announced that she would personally match what had already been raised with $1.15 million of her own money.
