With the free-agent market getting closer to opening up, the Braves have one name highlighted on their list.
According to a source, the Braves are looking to quickly get a deal done to bring Madison Bumgarner to Atlanta.
This could really help the Braves team as a unit. Bumgarner has a ton of postseason experience and knows what it takes to win a championship.
When the 2020 campaign starts, Bumgarner will be entering his twelfth year in the league.
Madison Bumgarner and Will Smith both got the qualifying offer ($17.8 million) per @BNightengale, as expected. Bumgarner was an easy decision and Giants felt that's a worthwhile risk for a high-end closer. They have 10 days to accept or reject.— Alex Pavlovic (@PavlovicNBCS) November 4, 2019
He also led all major leaguers in games started last year, making all 34 starts.
A career 119-92, Bumgarner holds a 3.13 ERA and 1794 strikeouts.
Welcome to the offseason. The Giants just have to hire a manager, a GM, find their closer, find hitters who can handle Oracle Park, and figure out what to do with Madison Bumgarner. pic.twitter.com/09mh8xgfP6— Alex Pavlovic (@PavlovicNBCS) October 31, 2019
