Bryant occasionally used a helicopter as his mode of transportation to get from his residence to downtown Los Angeles. The crash ignited a brush fire which made it difficult for emergency personnel to get to the crash site. Bryant was 41 years old and leaves behind a wife and four daughters.
I received a text from my boss, Brandon Chase asking if I heard anything about Kobe. I immediately got on Twitter and saw that Kobe wasn't on the trending page. I refreshed the page and TMZ's tweet popped up.
Kobe was traveling to a travel basketball game with his oldest daughter Gianna. Gianna Bryant was also on the helicopter with her father when it crashed.
Our thoughts and condolences are with Kobe's and Gianna's family and friends.
Be sure to give your loved ones a hug today.
