James Dolan, What Are You Doing??
How many times will James Dolan toss fans out of MSG for chanting "sell the team?" Its already happened several times over the past few seasons and there's no telling how many more times he's had fans escorted out over the years. Even former Knicks star, Charles Oakley, was famously tossed out in 2017. It was reported that Oakley was intoxicated and taking "jabs" at Dolan but Oakley didn't go quietly, getting into a physical altercation with a security guard. There was a massive fallout between Dolan and Oakley and even led to Oakley suing Dolan for defamation, assault and false imprisonment.
Fast forward to a couple of nights ago and Dolan was at it again. Infamous Knicks fan, Spike Lee, was escorted off of the elevator after entering through the employee entrance. He was reportedly asked to leave and enter through the main doors. Dolan says the rules and procedures had changed and Lee was not notified. Other reports refute that and state that Dolan was rude and dismissive towards Lee after the incident occurred.
Lee has spent almost $10 million on tickets in his nearly 30 years of being a Knicks fan. Here's the thing: JAMES DOLAN DOESN'T HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON. When you alienate arguably your most well known and biggest fan, it's over. It wasn't enough for Dolan to toss fans out for yelling "sell the team." Or to toss out a former Knicks star. No, no he had to go after Spike Lee. The Knicks have been a doormat since Dolan took over and there's no end in sight.
It's been a tough 20+ years for Knicks fans. What was once a proud franchise, is now a laughing stock, thanks to one man who can't get out of the way: James Dolan. Knicks fans deserve better and until Dolan is gone, things won't change.
