News broke yesterday that Tom Brady was not re-signing with the Patriots. Tampa was a dark horse to land Brady but with his lack of weapons in recent years, it's easy to see why he chose the Bucs.
If I'm a Panthers fan, I hate this. Even though Carolina has gotten the better of Brady in recent years, that Super Bowl loss in 03-04 still hurts. Now the Panthers will face him twice a year for at least this coming season. A lot of fans had the same take, and I don't think we can argue with the logic:
If I'm a Bucs fan or a Tom Brady fan, I'm loving this. Brady now has Mike Evans AND Chris Godwin to throw to. Outside of an aging Randy Moss and Rob Gronkowski, this may be the best supporting cast that Brady has ever had. Not to mention O.J. Howard potentially in the mix and Ronald Jones. Brady sets the tone for the run game so this may be beneficial to Jones, who's struggled in his short time in the NFL after being drafted in the second round by Tampa in 2018.
Granted, Brady doesn't have quite the arm strength he once had, but you don't have to be a HOF QB to throw to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. They made Jameis Winston look decent even in a season where he threw 30 ints.
The contract is reportedly worth up to $30 million per year and Brady is expected to announce the decision sometime today.
