NC Public Schools To Remain Closed Until May 15; Local Salons Have To Close By Wednesday
Well, we knew it was coming and now it’s official. North Carolina’s Governor Roy Cooper announced today (March 23) that all public schools will remain closed until May 15. That’s about two months of no school for students. This measure was taken as health officials try to get a handle on the coronavirus since people continue to fall ill from the disease.
Cooper also said he’s not ready to give up on reopening schools yet. Most North Carolina public schools have classes scheduled until June 12. Nonetheless, many students and parents will have to struggle over the idea of their graduation ceremonies and other events like prom possibly being postponed or canceled.
In addition, Cooper also ordered nail salons, hair salons, and barbershops to close their doors by 5pm Wednesday, March 25.
Cooper said daycares are allowed to remain open as parents continue to work.
