Special Education Teacher Creates YouTube Channel for Students
A New Jersey special education teacher can no longer teach her class due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, that didn’t stop her from connecting with her kids.
Ms. Parker started teaching her special needs education class five years ago and stated: “these kids are my world.” She works with students ages five-seven who have severe cognitive, physical and/or emotional disabilities and now is trying to connect from the digital screen.
Ms. Parker started recording herself reading children’s books, creating lesson plans at home and encouraging her kids to keep learning and stay positive. Ms. Parker even started to feature some of her teaching assistants on her YouTube channel who are also reading books to her class.
