According to a press conference from Gov. Roy Cooper, North Carolina will be extending it's Stay-at-Home order until May 8th, 2020.
The governor announced changes in his executive order Thursday, April 23rd, at 3 pm. This is due to concerns about the rising case of COVID-19 and protecting the safety and health of our residents. Cooper’s stay-at-home order to help slow the spread of the coronavirus went into effect at the end of March. It was set to expire next week on April 30th, 2020.
With the growing number of COVID-19 related deaths and hospitalizations across North Carolina, there are many residents believe Cooper should extend the order, while others want it dropped. The state announced it is looking at four data points in trying to determine if North Carolina is ready to reopen. They are looking at combinations of positive case trends, hospitalizations, and other data. You can watch the full report here.
