What You Need to Know About North Carolina’s Phase 1 Starting at 5pm Today
Today at 5 pm the first phase of reopening businesses in Charlotte will occur. It has been over a month since many businesses have closed their doors due to COVID-19. Now have numbers have lowered, Governor Roy Cooper has implemented a three-phase plan, and here is what you need to know about phase 1.
PHASE 1: This phase includes the re-opening of retail stores and state parks and is expected to be in place for two to three weeks. People are now permitted to leave their homes for more than just health care and grocery shopping. Businesses are advised to maintain social-distancing guidelines and all cleaning rules.
NEED TO KNOW ABOUT STORES AND RESTAURANTS: These businesses will operate at a 50% capacity instead of the current 20% capacity. For restaurants, take out and delivery are the only options. No in-room dining until phase 2. The social distancing rule of 6 feet between people and cleaning measures is required.
SHOULD YOU WEAR A MASK? You are not required to wear a mask, but it is strongly recommended by the CDC. A mask will help reduce the spread of COVID-19 as it can be spread from droplets due to coughing and/or sneezing.
411 ON SALONS: Sadly, you can not go to get your hair and/or nails done yet. These will be reopening in phase 2.
