North Carolina Experienced An Earthquake Sunday
A 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit Sparta, North Carolina along the Virginia border on Sunday morning, with its the epicenter in Allegheny County.
A 5.3 magnitude quake is considered moderate. The quake, the strongest to shake since North Carolina since 1926, could be felt in South Carolina and as far as 300 miles south near Atlanta, Georgia, according to CNN. The Sparta area sits on three seismic zones. Areas of Tennessee also reported some tremors last weekend.

Well that was fun, only second time I’ve felt an earthquake. Other time was several years ago when the DC area had their quake.

The last damaging #earthquake in North Carolina was 1981 in Henderson County just south of Asheville. Time will tell if we see damage from this one, would not surprise me considering the intensity on the Richter Scale of 5.1.
