Carolina Streamer Spotlight: Meet Mashaun Sims/Devic
Video games are all the rage, so we decided to shed some light on local video game streamers in the Carolinas. This week, I am so excited to share an 11-year old gamer that aspires to be a YouTuber and Video Game Designer. With his mom’s help, we had the chance to sit down with him and get his answers about being part of the game stream community! Who is he? Meet Mashaun Sims known as Devic_YT!
How’d you get into streaming? What was the original goal?
I got into streaming by reaching 200 subs it inspired me. Mainly I was inspired by all the other streamers that I watched as well. I wanted to entertain people during the pandemic. And in general, just making them smile and laugh is just my main goal.
What’s been your best moment as a streamer?
Reaching 500 subs. Because I worked really hard. And spent lots of time, making videos and more Livestream material. It really made me feel, very accomplished to reach so many people.
What games really speak to you?
Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite.
How do you like connecting with your audience? What tool do you use most (chat, Twitter, Discord, etc.)?
Discord or Roblox messaging. (Mostly Discord). I also respond to comments in my streams and reply to comments on videos.
If your fans were only going to take one message away from watching you, what would you want that to be?
I want people to get to know who I am through my videos. I try to showcase my fun and silly side of my personality and just me as a person.
What advice would you give to aspiring streamers?
I’d say be yourself don’t let haters get to you, and don’t ignore your supporters.
What’s been one of the biggest surprises that you never thought of going into streaming?
Getting raided and gaining shoutouts for raiding others.
