Whats the New Favorite Sport in Each State?

A new study by Myprotein has found the most popular sport in every US state as the results reveal Football is America’s favorite game based on ticket sales.

Home to the most iconic games, America has the biggest sports fans in the world. So with 154 million Americans tuning in to watch live sport on TV every month and spending $56 billion on game tickets every year, which sports do US states love the most?

The study has found the most popular sports per state by analyzing tickets bought by citizens through Vivid Seats for games in Basketball, Baseball, Football, and Hockey. What did North Carolina get? Well, like most we went with Football! You can see the full map below and the results.

• Football

  It's no surprise that Football is the favorite sport in 31 states. When it comes down to the most popular league, the NFL takes home the trophy as 19 states have the highest game attendance. Ohio, South Dakota, Washington, and Florida are just some of the states that love the NFL while other states like Nebraska, Alabama, and Oklahoma choose to spend time at NCAA college games - which figures, since these three states all rank top for producing legendary football players from their colleges!

• Baseball

  10 states are the biggest fans of Baseball, as the sport is most popular in the likes of California, New Jersey, and New York - home to the infamous Yankees. It's no surprise that California is a baseball mad state, with 5 major league baseball teams for fans to spectate including the LA Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants.

• Basketball

  Basketball follows closely in third place, as our ticket sales data reveals that the biggest basketball supporters can be found in Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Wisconsin, while Kentucky also loves the sport, but prefer to watch the NCAA league.
• Hockey

  The biggest hockey supporters can be found in Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
