Michael Andretti Breaks Two World Records In A Car Made Of Cake
Written by Phil Harris from WKQC
The ilani casino in Washington state recently broke two Guinness World Records when it opened its new parking garage. The unveiling of the garage included a race between two cars made mostly of cake.
UPI reports that each of the two replica race cars consisted of a cake body mounted on an aluminum chassis. The Cowlitz Indian Tribe, which owns the casino, said each car was 91% edible. Guinness World Records required the cars to be at least 90% edible in order to set the records for the fastest edible vehicle and the longest distance covered by an edible vehicle.
Racecar driver Michael Andretti drove the cake car that broke the records. It was a replica of an open-wheel car he had driven during a championship season. The other cake was a replica of a car once driven by his father, Mario Andretti.
Michael’s cake car reached a top speed of 17.08 mph and traveled a distance of 349.81 feet to break the two world records. The cake was later donated to Share Vancouver, a nonprofit serving people experiencing hunger and homelessness. See the record-breaking drive below:
