Are you still feeling the financial impacts of the past year? Its been hard for so many families with the added expenses of staying at home and many as struggling to make ends meet. If you are working from home or have kids in online learning internet is non-negotiable.
In response, the federal government has launched an emergency program that can give you $50 off your monthly internet bill. Tens of millions of Americans are eligible for the program, which is part of last December's $900 billion relief package.
The discount is applicable to a household’s whole bill, or you can use it to trade up to a more expensive offering and have your bill is partly covered.
Your provider most likely is participating. More than 800 mobile and internet providers are part of the program, including Comcast, Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T.
You should be eligible if you receive food stamps, have a child in the free or reduced-price school lunch program, use Medicaid, or lost income during the pandemic and made less than $99,000 for single filers, or $198,000 for joint filers.
Applications open today, Wednesday, May 12th. You can check your eligibility at getemergencybroadband.org.
