Free Fishing Day In North Carolina Announced For July 4th
Just like in years past “Free Fishing Day” will be July 4 in North Carolina. Free Fishing Day is the one day a year that North Carolinians as well as out-of-state visitors are able to fish without having to purchase a license. You are able to fish in all public waters. “Free Fishing Day was created to promote the sport of fishing and is a great opportunity for families to try a new outdoor activity,” according to Christian Waters, chief of the Inland Fisheries Division of N.C. General Assembly. The day was first established in 1994 and most often falls on July 4th.
If you plan on fishing on the Forth of July keep in mind that places will be extra crowded due to the holiday weekend. Plan to get to your destination early and be mindful of those around you.
