World UFO Day is July 2nd and Here’s North Carolina’s UFO Activity
372049 02: An alien doll hangs out a car window in downtown Roswell, New Mexico July 1, 2000 as part of the annual UFO Encounter, which runs through July 4, 2000. The annual festival stems from a mysterious crash northwest of Roswell in 1947. The Army initially said it was a UFO crash, but quickly backed off that report. The Pentagon has since said it was a top-secret balloon crash, but UFO enthusiasts don''t believe that story, which gives rise to what has become known as the "Roswell Incident". With World UFO day on July 2nd, mysterious objects flying through the night sky are on the top of Americans’ minds. Many Americans are going to grab their binoculars and go looking for (supposed) alien spacecraft. So, where are people seeing the most UFOs?
Thanks to the folks at SatelliteInternet, a list was recently created of an analysis of the states with the most UFO sightings per capita. From the report, if you live in Idaho look in the sky. Idaho has the highest number of sightings of unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, per capita.
As for us in North Carolina, we have one of the least numbers of sightings. I know, I’m bummed out too. You’d think with all our mountains they would hang out there. (I still think they do!) However, your neighbors in South Carolina rank right in the middle with more opportunities to see a UFO.
States with the most UFO sightings
- Idaho
- Montana
- New Hampshire
- Maine
- New Mexico
- Vermont
- Wyoming
- Hawaii
- Washington
- Connecticut
States with the fewest UFO sightings
- Texas
- Louisiana
- New York
- Maryland
- Illinois
- California
- Alabama
- Mississippi
- Georgia
- North Carolina
So how was this data collected? Well, from reports of UFO sightings of course. UFO sightings happen all over the country. This chart shows how many UFO sightings were reported in each state, how many sightings there were per 100,000 people, and the overall state rankings of where you’re most likely to spot a UFO.
