Ducks Removed From Charlotte Area Park After Being Abused
Dozens of ducks and geese have been removed from a local Charlotte area park after one bird was discovered to have had its “feet cut off,” according to Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. Others were used as “target practice” and one was beaten at the park. The birds from the Martin Luther King Jr Park in Statesville have now been removed.
The Carolina Waterfowl Rescue received four separate reports of the abuse and took action on July 9th. After consulting with the city of Salisbury they developed a plan to remove as many as 75 birds to safety. The animals will go through health evaluations and then be put up for adoption. Thinking about these animals being adopted gives me major “the chick and the duck” flashbacks from Friends.

No word on if an investigation is underway as to who committed these heinous acts of abuse. These animals did nothing to deserve the abuse and the people responsible should absolutely pay. We are lucky to live in an area where organizations are willing and able to step in and help remove the ducks.
