The USA Has More Risk-Takers Than Any Other Country

Are you a daredevil? Many things in life are all about the risk tolerance you are willing to accept. With the current pandemic situation as well it’s forced a lot of people to consider a risk-benefit analysis of many things. But what country has the most risk-takers? Well, the Sports betting site OLBG has the answer. They have done the work for you and ranked the countries of the world in order of risk taking. And unsurprising, at least to me, the USA has more risk-takers than any other country.

But what is a risk? Many things can be considered risky from risking your marriage to risking money at the casino to diving with sharks and 1,000 things in between.

OLBG based this data on 7 different categories:

• Innovation
• Number of divorces per 1,000
• Total number of billionaires
• Total gambling losses per country
• Gambling loss per adult
• People in that country searching for ‘Bucket List’ activities
• People in that country searching for ‘Extreme Sports’

The data revealed that the USA came out on top with the most risk-takers by a wide margin. Following us was Canada in second place, then closely behind was the UK in third place.

• Biggest Risk Taking Countries

  In what probably doesn't come as much of surprise the USA was determined to be the biggest risk takers but a wide margin. We came in first in 3 categories: divorce rates, number of billionaires, and total gambling losses.

• Countries With The Most Billionaire

  I'm sure you can name several billionaires off the top of your head- Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates are the first two that come to my mind. And they are just two of many that call the US home. The land of opportunity is home to 615 of the worlds 2,755 billionaires (statistic from OLBG). For most billionaires getting to this point takes significant financial risks when it comes to investments, starting companies, etc.

• Highest Rates Of Divorce

  You've probably heard the statistic that around 50% of US marriages ending in divorce it's a sad reality that we lead in this category as well. Deciding to end a marriage is an emotionally risk as well as a financial risk. which is why OLBG included it. From their research they concluded that there are around 2.9 divorces per 1000 people in the US.
• Gambling Losses

  If you think of potential risks you can take gambling is one of the first things to cross most people's minds. While gambling isn't legal in all parts of the country places like Las Vegas and Atlantic City thrive on American's risk tolerance.

  While we have the most gambling losses in total we didn't crack the top 3 for gambling loss per person. The average American doesn't lose as much as those in Singapore, Australia, and Ireland.

• Extreme Sports

  Additionally extreme sports aren't on the mind of Americans the way they are of those in other countries.
• Bucket List

  I feel as though bucket lists are fairly common in the US. We came in third for these types of searches. I absolutely have a "bucket list" but I would say most of the things on mine are fairly low risk. Though many people's include things like skydiving, bungee jumping, swimming with sharks, and other more extreme riskier activities.

  Innovation and risk go hand and hand. And this is a great thing to be known for as a nation.
