When the Catawba Nation opened Two Kings Casino this summer the facility had just 500 gaming machines. Just a few short months later they announced that they would double that number in the coming days. And that time is now. The Two Kings Casino expansion will open on December 15th in Kings Mountain.
The Two Kings Casino expansion will feature popular games like roulette, craps, blackjack, and baccarat as well as lead to the hiring of approximately 20 more employees. The Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort opened a temporary casino in early July 2021. Phase one of the project included a small-scale gaming complex that includes 500 slot machines with limited food and drink services inside modular trailers.
According to the Triad Business Journal, the temporary casino facility is averaging 2,500 daily visitors. This estimate would be a pace of 900,000 visitors per year. Which will be a huge impact on the Kings Mountain economy. This is still the temporary casino, with construction set to begin on the permanent building sometime next year.
No word on the estimated completion date for this new tourist attraction for our state. I was able to visit the casino a few weeks ago and can't wait to see what the completed project amounts to.
