Ms. Jessica Host The 5th Annual “The BIG Cut” in Charlotte
On Sunday, I hosted my 5th annual “The BIG Cut” back-to-school event. Kids from all over came out to the Stratford Richardson YMCA to get free haircuts from over 15 of the best barbers in the Carolinas. They also received book bags courtesy of Healthy Blue North Carolina, school supplies courtesy of Speaks Law Firm, and food courtesy of Food Lion and Extra Catering. Families also enjoyed entertainment from the Explosive Divas of Charlotte (a local majorette dance team) and music from our very own DJ Kue One.
When I arrived at the YMCA on Sunday morning to set up around 10:45 am, 1 family was already waiting in their car. When it was time to open the doors at 1 pm, the line was wrapped around the building. The day was a huge success! We were able to provide 80 haircuts, 130 book bags, 160 hotdogs, and so many school supplies that I lost count.
Thank you to every partner that helped to make this happen. And a SUPER BIG THANK YOU to all the barbers that donated their time and gifts to the families in our community.
