South Carolina beaches are beautiful with plenty of gorgeous spots and a lot to do.  So, it's not surprising the best hotels in nation list includes two South Carolina resorts.  The State reports U.S. News & World Report mentions the Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf resort near Charleston along with The Inn & Club at Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island on a top 10 places to stay list.  In putting the list together, three categories helped with the rankings.  For each location, reviewers looked at past recognition, data from travel review site Tripadvisor and "hotel class" or star ratings.  The report indicated the higher ranked hotels usually receive positive marks from experts and users when it comes to "exceptional quality."  Between the two South Carolina resorts making the grade, Kiawah Island Golf Resort finished higher at number 4.  The beautiful Sanctuary hotel is home to a spa along with an oceanfront setting.

And, according to reviews on Tripadvisor, visitors remarked about the "manicured lawns" and nearby sea creatures.  The resort website calls it a "casual but elegant building, reminiscent of a grand seaside mansion." Next, we move to The Inn & Club at Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island.  This resort finished right behind the Sanctuary at number 5.  Visitors to this resort mentioned the top hospitality and Lowcountry decor.  And, Tripadvisor reviews bragged about the rooms and golf course views.  The spot's website boasts about the decor reminiscent of the coastal palette and island charm.  Taking the number one spot in the nation was Acqualina Resort & Residences near Miami.  Check here for the rest of the list.  However, maybe you can plan a stay at one of the best hotels in the nation close to home in South Carolina.

10 Best Resorts In South Carolina For Your 2023 Vacation

Craving the perfect weekend getaway? I just got back from vacation but what I wouldn't give for another relaxing weekend. And lucky for us, some of the best resorts around are right down the road in South Carolina. Travel & Leisure recently ranked their Top 10 South Carolina Resort Hotels. All ten of these are the epitome of luxury and relaxation. The list was based on reader votes in the publication's World's Best Awards. The hotels were rated on facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. South Carolina has miles of coastline so it's no surprise that the vast majority of hotels included are waterfront. Nine of ten are located on the water to be exact.

Hilton Head was the leader with four of the ten hotels located on the island. Other locations represented include Kiawah and Bluffton. Whether you are traveling with the family or just a relaxing adults-only getaway you'll be sure to enjoy these resorts. They feature all the amenities you could hope for with golf, spas, beaches, restaurants, and more. All of these reasons keep visitors coming back year after year to enjoy the South Carolina Lowcountry.

There are so many spots I'd love to travel to, though looking at photos of these gorgeous resorts may have catapulted several of them to the top of my list. Have you stayed at any of them? Which is your favorite?
