As the big game slowly approaches, we wonder about the best cities that are the best for football fans. When it comes to tailgating and enjoying a game, we always want to be around the people that have the most fun. It's about more than just wearing your team's jersey, but cheering them on from the stands to the parking lot to the couch on game day.

WalletHub conducted a study to determine the best and worst cities for football fans in America. You may or may not be surprised by the results. WalletHub compared more than 240 U.S. cities to determine the results. The cities have at least one college or professional football team across 21 metrics. Everything from the number of teams to stadium capacity and fan engagement was taken into consideration. Charlotte, North Carolina did make it up in the upper area of the list coming in at No. 25. But, one surprise was a South Carolina college town. Can you guess where? Clemson came in at No. 29 as one of the best cities for football fans. Are you surprised though? I grew up in the Carolinas and seeing how Clemson fans go all out for their school I could see why football fans would enjoy this city.

What are some other cities you expect to see on the list? Check out the full report here.

This South Carolina University Has The Best Football Tailgates in The South

I love football, which includes both college football and the NFL. And there is nothing like Bank of America Stadium rocking on a night game when the Panthers are good. (I know I know that's been forever ago). But I'll die on the hill that the atmosphere for college football is vastly superior to that of the NFL. The passion of being a part of a school community (not just a city), the band, cheerleaders, the overall importance of each game, and of course the tailgates. Yes, people tailgate before NFL games. But if you've been to a good college tailgate, you know there is no comparison. For instance, I went to NC State, tailgating on the fairgrounds with the fraternities or the RV Lot, music blaring, and befriending everyone around you. It's just a different breed. You can argue time and time again about who hosts the best college football tailgates. There are many many schools that do it well. And our friends at WSN decided to rank the best football tailgates around the country.

This list is obviously debatable, I'd say the south is home to the best tailgates, but the top 3 on this list do not fit that bill. But the 4th spot? Well it's right in our backyard and well in the south. It pains me to write something complementary about an ACC rival. But regardless I'll suck it up and maybe one day I'll venture down to Death Valley (you know who it is now I'm sure), to take in a game. Keep reading to see the top 10 tailgates in college football according to WSN.
