Duck Donuts, the popular made-to-order franchise that started in Duck, North Carolina, now has over 100 locations globally.
In a social media post on October 14, Duck Donuts announced the opening of their first New England location with the Walpole, Massachusetts opening. In addition, prior to that on October 11, Duck Donuts showed their first Bangkok, Thailand store opening.
"We believe in the power of sweet moments, and we can't wait to create memorable experiences for our customers in Thailand,” said Duck Donuts CEO Betsy Hamm.
Global Expansion
Thailand is not the only country to now be treated to some made-to-order fresh donuts. There are now international Duck Donut locations in Canada, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. North Carolina still has the most Duck Donuts locations however. There are now 20 locations in the state, in addition to Duck Trucks.
What's Factoring In To This Growth?
If you are not familiar with what makes Duck Donuts different, let us explain. Their first shop opened in Duck, Outer Banks, in 2007. The primary menu item (and differentiator) with Duck Donuts is that they offer made-to-order donuts. On their menu, you can see how these items are categorized. The fan-favorites section includes the "bacon in the sun" (bacon topped) donut, chocolate caramel crunch, and the peanut butter and jelly donut.
To partake in the festive fall season, Duck Donuts is offering a spooky box, sweet as pie assortment, and pumpkin macchiato.
While that all sounds great, we still haven't gotten to the "made-to-order" component. Here is how that works. It starts with their vanilla cake donut; from there, you can get creative. You pick your icing. There are 11 options here. Then, you add your topping. From sprinkles to coconut to chopped bacon, you will have eight choices to pick from. Lastly, top it off with hot fudge, chocolate, strawberry, or marshmallow drizzle.
We are still not done. Duck Donuts also has eight different ice cream sundaes and nine milkshake options.
Ollie + Quacking Back
Talk about leaning into where you are from. Duck Donuts has done a great job leveraging that their original spot is in Duck. The official mascot, "Ollie," appears in all branding and videos.
Furthermore, Duck Donuts makes a conscious effort to give back to their communities through their Quack Gives Back program, which "promotes partnering with community groups to raise awareness and funds for their causes."
North Carolina Has One of the Best Winter Getaways in the U.S.
It's never too early to start planning an exciting winter getaway, especially since the most popular winter vacation spots get booked up quickly. The good news, though, is that most people take vacations in the summer, so traveling in the winter can be a bit more relaxing. You are also able to usually find better travel rates during the winter season, except during the holidays. If you don't have to travel during the holidays, just don't, because it's a mess. So, what are the best winter getaways in the U.S.? North Carolina has one of them.
I've researched some of the most popular winter vacation destinations in hopes of finding the perfect spot. The following list includes not just sunny, warm getaways, but also some areas that people who love snow can enjoy. Honestly, many people who live in a warm climate like to flock to a snowy location for a bit during the winter to get that seasonal experience, even if that seems counter intuitive. Of course, those who live in the northern parts of America love to go to a warm spot and get away from their daily lives filled with snow and ice.
I'm a Michigan girl, so I'm very familiar with the cold and ice in the winter. Not that I like it. Each year, I say I'm going to escape, even if it's just for a few days, to a warmer location. But, I never do. Maybe this year will be different. Looking at vacation rates, it's fairly easy to find some good deals, again, if it's not during the holiday travel season. Read on for some of the bets winter getaways in the U.S., based on my research. What's your favorite winter vacation spot? Reach out to me on social media here and let me know. Have a fantastic winter, and stay warm.
