ZARA: Now Expected To Open At SouthPark Mall In 2026
SouthPark Mall announced in a release that the retail store ZARA will be coming to the mall in 2026. The company sells clothing for men, women, and children and also markets home and beauty goods.
“Charlotteans have long awaited the arrival of Zara, and the buzz surrounding its opening at SouthPark mall is palpable,” said Holly Roberson Van Cleave, director of marketing and business development at SouthPark, in a statement.
ZARA is coming to Charlotte
ZARA has almost 100 storefronts across the United States, and this will be the first location in North Carolina. According to Forbes, the Spanish-based retailer has about 3,000 stores worldwide, more than 500 of which are in the company’s home country.
Business Insider reported that Inditex, the fashion group and the parent company of ZARA plans to open at least 10 new stores across the U.S. by 2025. “The Spanish fast-fashion retailer is planning 30 new store “projects” in the US over the next two years, including new stores, store relocations, and renovations to existing locations,” the outlet reported.
Since the announcement of the opening, many people shared in the excitement. One person took to social media and said, “I can’t wait to smell their fragrances! They get a lot of hype and have a small price tag.” Another person said, “I bought a jacket from their Santa Monica store like 5ish years back, and honestly, it’s still my favorite jacket. Someone else said, “I will be there on opening day [heart emoji].”
Several people aren’t too happy about the two-year wait. One person said, “By the time it gets here I will be too old to wear it.” Another person added, “2026? But put up $3,000 a month apartments in 2 weeks, I cannottttt.”
A specific opening date has not been set, but the future storefront will be fixed in between Fink’s Jewelers and Belk, in the space formerly occupied by Gap and J.Crew. Plans for a ZARA store in Charlotte first became public in 2023. At that time, the store was expected to open by 2025.
Right now, the closest ZARA location to Charlotte is in Atlanta, where there are two locations.
More Openings
Last year, Wegmans Food Markets announced plans for a new Wegmans store in Charlotte, N.C., the company’s first in the city. As of April, the grocer still plans to open its first Charlotte location on North Community House Road. Opening by the third quarter of 2026.
