In today’s day and age, we don’t have to go to the store to buy music, records, or anything like that. You can pretty much listen to any song ever online.

I grew up in an age where vinyl records were the thing you bought or maybe a cassette tape of an album. I’m a little too young to have purchased 8-tracks, but I will tell you I still buy vinyl records. I sometimes buy new versions of vinyl records that I already have. I love the remastered versions with new liner notes. And I'll admit it: I like it when they reissue vinyl in a different color.

There’s something special about vinyl records. I don’t know if it’s the beginning of the record or when you hear those little pops and ticks before your song starts to play. It’s something I have always loved and continue to love as I listen to those vinyl records.

Last year, I joined a vinyl club and got 16 titles of Dolly Parton albums that I already had. However, when an album came, I still listened to the whole thing and enjoyed it just as much as I did when I first heard it years ago.

I did a little digging and found some of those wonderful brick-and-mortar record stores right here in Charlotte.

Lunchbox Records

Lunchbox Records is a new and used record store in Charlotte, NC. They sell LPs, CDs, DVDs, 7"s, cassettes, stickers, patches, buttons, magazines, books, record storage and cleaning supplies, and more. They also sell a full line of turntables, needles, belts, and cartridges, along with storage supplies and sleeves.

They also pay cash for vinyl, cassettes, turntables, and stereo equipment. They generally give store credit for used CDs and DVDs.

Repo Records

What a fun place! They buy and sell new and used vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and stereo equipment. They also carry all sorts of music, old and current. R&B, Rock, Metal, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Etc. They promise to "give your unwanted stuff a second life."

They are currently in the market for turntables, receivers, power amps, speakers, DJ equipment, and more.

Noble Records

Noble Records is an independent record shop and a brick and mortar establishment located in Matthews, NC. They started in 2010 as collectors who wanted to find and rescue records from basements, attics, closets, and garages.

Their main focus is to get records back into the hands of those who need them. They "strive to provide the local community of creatives with inspiring music."

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s. Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
