Find Out the Smallest Towns in North and South Carolina

Itty, bitty, tiny. North and South Carolina are pretty big but there are also spots that are very, very small. I am not a girl that has ever lived in a "small town" so I don't know how that is. But, once I got to college and started meeting people it blew my mind to know how many small towns there are within the states.

Reader's Digest is naming the smallest town in every state. I am sure I have not been to too many small towns, besides being out in the country with family. Some of the towns on this list I have never, ever even heard it. Which is kind of crazy to me. Check out the two smallest towns in North and South Carolina and tell me what you think. I may have to ride on through just to see the energy.

In North Carolina, the smallest town is Fontana Dam. Yeah, I have never heard of this one. This town is located in the Great Smokey Mountains area. It has been around unofficially since the 1940s but did not get incorporated until 2011. How wild is that? Crazy enough, the town only has 7 permanent residents but also visitors and seasonal staff that reside there. Have you ever been to or heard of Fontana Dam?

Take a trip to the smallest town in South Carolina. Jenkinsville is South Carolina's smallest town according to Reader's Digest. Jenkinsville has only 43 residents. It is located in the middle of the state and mixed in the backwoods lake living. I am from South Carolina and have truly never heard of Jenkinsville. It is a small, tucked away town in the Carolinas.
