Happy Earth Day! Every April 22nd the world comes together to demonstrate support for environmental protection. North Carolina is filled with beautiful state parks, greenways, and nature galore so get out there and celebrate Earth Day this week!

  • Charlotte Earth Day Celebration

    This event takes place on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at First Ward Park, 301 E 7th Street, Charlotte, NC. It is a free event and you can enjoy a drum circle, fun activities for the kids, educational events, and even a dance party! You can see more here. The schedule of events is featured here

  • Earth Day with Kids In Nature Day

    Come out to Squirrel Lake Park to celebrate Earth Day with Kids In Nature Day! Activities include Eco-Friendly Exhibits and vendors, hikes, scavenger hunts, kid’s nature crafts, STEM activities, and free family fun.  You can see more on this Earth Day event in Charlotte, North Carolina here.

  • Anne Springs Close Greenway's Earth Day Celebration

    Want to go to the biggest Earth Day celebration in the Charlotte area? You can join the party for Mother Earth at Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Parking is $5 per vehicle. There will be lead-line horse rides, fishing clinics, kayaking, guided hikes, reptile encounters, historic cabin tours, and more. There’s no other admission cost, but some activities will have a cost. You can see more here.

  • Ballantyne Earth Day Celebration

    This event takes place on April 22nd, 2022. There is a free drive-thru shredding event hosted from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the Brixham Green Three Parking Lot. There is also an Earth Day Movie Night showing WALL-E from 5 to 9 p.m. at Ballantyne’s Backyard. The movie costs $5. Money from the movie will be helping planet Earth.   • Lightrail Clean Up

    Living in a city means living with streets full of garbage. You can lend a hand and help with Rail Trail Clean-Up. You will get a free drink and drawstring bag for helping. It is at the New Bern Light Rail Station from 10 am until 12 pm. If you can’t make it, try taking a bag and cleaning up any trash you see in your area.

  • North Carolina Science Festival

    Love science? You might want to check this festival out! Join Discovery Place Nature for Earth Day 2022 and celebrate our blue planet! It is held on Saturday, April 23rd from 9:30 am until 4:30 pm. Humans, animals, plants, and the rest of nature will be explored through both indoor and outdoor activities for all ages. Through design, hiking, planting, and even bio blitzes, community partners will share ways that guests can connect with nature. You can see more on the event here.

  • Happy Earth Day Pop-Up Market

    Hosted on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 2 pm until 8 pm at 5519 Indian Trail Fairview Rd, Indian Trail, NC is the pop-up market for Earth Day. There will be 60+ vendors, local food, and music.
