We love the Carolinas! The weather is great, stuff is relatively cheap and the people for the most part are nice. There are many parts of the Carolinas that draw tourists from around the world. Two of them made the latest list of trending destinations from TripAdvisor.com.

Tripadvisor.com’s Travelers’ Choice awards are used to compile the list. Readers vote on various topics on the website. This could include the best beaches, places to eat and so on. They list the best in the world, then list them by region, and then list them by best in the United States.

Out of the top ten list, I’ve actually been to four locations. Toping the list was the island of Hawaii. Of course, because it is gorgeous. But two cities in the Carolinas actually made the top ten list too. Charleston, South Carolina came in ranking number two on the list, and Ashville, North Carolina ranked number ten. Here’s the top ten list below.

  • 10. Asheville, North Carolina

Go to Asheville if you’re into eating locally and supporting sustainable agriculture. The local restaurant scene is all about utilizing the seasonal produce sold at the 17 farmers’ markets in this town of fewer than 100,000 people. There are also several microbreweries in the area. It is one of my favorite spots. I love hiking and waterfalls, tons in this area too if you do as well.

  • 9. Naples, Florida

Naples is a coastal city on the Gulf of Mexico that is popular, sophisticated, and charming. With miles of white sand beaches, it boasts many world-class hotels and resorts.

  • 8. Talkeetna, Alaska

It is recognized as an honor in Talkeetna to wear “raccoon eyes,” or pale circles where sunglasses were. The reason you’re here is likely because you climbed or hiked up Denali, the 20,310-foot peak at the base of this former mining town. It’s easy to make your way to the Alaskan Range, where you can fly fish, raft, or fly over the glaciers in a propeller plane (landing on a glacier is an option).

  • 7. Mount Desert Island, Maine

In terms of size, Mount Desert Island is the largest island in Maine and the second largest island on the Eastern Seaboard. Despite having a small residential community, Mount Desert hosts more than two million visitors a year, who enjoy the quaint feel, beautiful beaches, and access to saltwater and freshwater lakes. Water activities include kayaking, fishing, and canoeing, but many visitors prefer to take in the magnificent sunrises and scenic vistas by exploring one of the island’s 25 trails.

  • 6. Clearwater, Florida

My grandma actually lives in this area. I’ve gone every year and I love it. The beaches in Clearwater are some of the best in the country. The Florida you’re seeing is Old-Fashioned, Calm, and Worth Seeing. Oh, and the weather’s outstanding.

  • 5. Fort Myers Beach, Florida

Fort Myers, a coastal city on Florida’s Gulf Coast, offers its own fabulous beaches as well as being surrounded by 100 barrier and coastal islands to explore. This area is renowned for its shelling, and the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum is nearby. There are 40 miles of canoe and kayak trails along the Great Calusa Blueway.

  • 4. Moab, Utah

Outdoor adventurers of all types flock to Moab. In addition to mountain biking, rock climbing, and hiking, you’ll find some of the best trails in the world in this part of the world. In addition, there are some stunning red rocks in the setting.

  • 3. Branson, Missouri

A vacation to Branson is bound to be memorable. Branson is home to star-studded performances at many of its live shows; Silver Dollar City, one of the world’s most popular theme parks; the beauty and adventures of the Ozark Mountains; some of the best golf in the Midwest; museums showcasing the area’s rich history and culture; spas and resorts; and boutiques, galleries, and outlets.

  • 2. Charleston, South Carolina

Historic Charleston is bursting with Southern charm, hospitality, and ghost tours!  I love this place. It really is so beautiful and the food is amazing. Luckily in Charlotte, we only live 4 hours away.

  • 1. Island of Hawaii, Hawaii

On my bucket list to go to is Hawaii! I actually really want to take the Jurassic Park Tour. It’s a volcanic paradise and has so many natural beauties.
