Mike Trout Signs Baseballs Biggest Contract Ever
Mike Trout and the Angels reportedly agreed on a 12-year $430 million dollar extension yesterday.
For the last 7 years, Mike Trout has been seen and known as the face of baseball. Just recently, Trout and the Angels agreed on an extension that makes him the highest paid American athlete ever. Both Manny Machado (Padres) and Bryce Harper (Phillies) originally signed the highest contracts in sports in back-to-back weeks.
Baseball fans knew that players were going to be paid this winter; with some of the best players in the league on the free agent market this year. Fans have heard about Los Angeles trying to make Trout an Angel for life for a few years now, but there were no clues leading to him signing this off-season.

Let's put that into perspective: pic.twitter.com/GQUaTTaNst
Mike Trout
Trout has been named Rookie of the Year in 2012, two time AL MVP and 7-time all-star. He has a career batting average of over .300 and has almost 1200 hits while stealing over 185 bases. Trout has consistently been the best all-around player in baseball since coming into the league. Age has always been a definable factor in what a baseball player can do and how versatile will they be as they get older, how fast will they be?
Even though Trout is going to enter the 2019 campaign at 27, he is showing no signs of slowing down.
Winners and Losers?
There are no losers in this extension. Both sides benefit from the extension. Trout is the best player in baseball and deservingly is making the highest wage in the league. The Angels win because they have him locked down for the next 12 years. The only concern is the immediate status of the team. They have not been playoff contenders the last years and will not be ready in the near future.
