Yes, there are Misspellings on The Stanley Cup
This is why people in the construction industry always say measure twice, cut once. That advice really should be heeded in lots of other fields too.
Apparently, there are several misspellings on the Stanley Cup, thanks to engravers mistakes.
Following their 1962-63 season championship victory, “TORONTO MAPLE LEAES” appears on the trophy. As does “BQSTQN BRUINS” after their hoisting in 1971-72 and the “NEW YORKILANDERS” during their historic run.
In one of the more famous errors, the father of Oilers owner Peter Pocklington, Basil Pocklington, was included, who had no affiliation with the 1983-84 team. The NHL had the name stricken with 16 Xs placed over the letters.
