Elizabeth Avenue’s Earl Grocery To Close Later This Month
It’s been a sad few weeks for Charlotte-area businesses and unfortunately, we have more bad news. This time it involves Earl’s Grocery. The urban grocery store located on Elizabeth Avenue will close for good later in the month. The store’s lease is set to expire in August and owners Bonnie Warford and Tricia Maddrey will not renew. The pandemic was tough for the business that made the switch to a full grocery store during the pandemic but the profitability just hasn’t been there. The pair, who are sisters, opened the store in 2014, which they named after their father. They also owned the neighboring restaurant Carpe Diem which also recently closed. Earls will be missed.
