Not all of America’s countless lakes, rivers, and shores are an angler’s paradise, though. So where do you have the best odds of snagging your next big catch?
Lawn Love ranked the 50 states to determine 2021’s Best and Worst States for Fishing. We looked for high levels of community interest in the sport, an abundance of water sources, easy access to gear, and affordable fishing licenses, among other factors. Here are the top 13 states and their rankings.

When it comes to the cost of fishing licenses, tags, permits, and stamps per license holder we ranked 11th. Bait and tackle shops per 100,000 residents pulled in at 17th. Overall with all the rankings North Carolina is the number 13th best state for fishing.
