North Carolina Are You Ready To Turkey Trot This Thanksgiving?
Apparently, Thanksgiving Day is one of the biggest running days of the year! I mean I guess if you want to burn some calories before you consume them it makes sense! I’m very proud of you. (However, no day is a running day for me personally). But if you are then good news. This Thanksgiving the 34th annual CPI Security Charlotte Turkey Trot will place at SouthPark Mall. 8,000 runners are expected to participate in 8K, 5K, 1 Mile, and Tot Trot events (I might could handle that one!). This makes the Charlotte North Carolina version of the Turkey Trot the largest community running event in the state. Wow!
And it’s not just about the running. Sponsor CPI will be onsite Thanksgiving morning with a prize wheel and “Big Red Chair” photo op. Other partners for the event include Novant Health, ALLY, Pridemore/Compass, Harris Teeter, and Ficken Lincoln. These sponsors will host onsite amenities and have post-race giveaways for participants. These include fruit, water, snacks, coffee and hot chocolate, beer sampling, a costume contest, great music, and much more!
“Our event is all about family, community, and tradition,” states David Jessey, one of the Event Directors. “And we’re grateful to have CPI Security and a blue-chip roster of partners who are really helping us to elevate the event day experience for participants.” 20% of all sponsorship will go directly to charities. Samaritan’s Feet is the lead beneficiary with the proceeds from the event providing shoes for children in the Charlotte region. Additionally, the event is promoting the annual CMPD Toy Drive and encouraging participants to donate toys onsite for boys and girls 14 and under.
