North Carolina Destination Named Most In Demand Spring Break Spot
Where are you headed for spring break? A recent study by SIXT revealed the most in-demand Spring Break destinations in 2023 based on weather, Tripadvisor review score, and Instagram popularity. And while both Carolina’s were recognized in this list North Carolina had a location named as one of the top 5 spring break destinations. The first thing you should know is that these are tourist attractions, not cities included on the list. So what is the attraction in North Carolina? It’s one that has made many lists and receives lots of (deserved) recognition- Biltmore Estate.
George Vanderbilt’s mountain home welcomes countless visitors year round to tour America’s largest home. But that’s just a small sample of what there is to do at Biltmore. Stroll the gardens and hiking trails, ride horses or mountain bikes, or go whitewater rafting. Adventure not what you’re looking for? Enjoy a wine tasting or tour, shop, or stay in one of the two hotels on site. The estate often hosts traveling exhibits as well. I’ve personally visited I’d guess 25-30 times and keep going back often.
But ok, back to Spring Break and this list. Biltmore came in 5th with 215,573 Instagram hashtags and a 4.5 rating on TripAdvisor. Here’s how the rest of the top 5 shaped up:
- Disney’s Magic Kingdom
- Panama City Beach
- Lincoln Memorial
- Georgia Aquarium
- Biltmore Estate
None of these destinations surprise me much. Disney crowds spike anytime school is out and Panama City is one of the biggest college spring break destinations. Then you add in the Lincoln Memorial and Georgia Aquarium which are educational family-friendly spots. Some other places that made the top 10 that I personally recommend are the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville (No. 8), Broadway at The Beach in Myrtle Beach (No. 9), and the Savannah Historic District in Savannah Georgia (No. 14). I just got back from two weeks of traveling but I’d turn around tomorrow and head to any of these places! If you are in North Carolina are you going to Biltmore for Spring Break? What about another spot on this list?
