Duke University Offering Free Tuition To North and South Carolina Residents

Picture this, you’re lucky enough to get into the college of your dreams. But that private university education costs a pretty penny, and the financial aid/scholorships don’t make it affordable enough. It’s a struggle high school students across the country know all too well. But one North Carolina university is stepping up to make sure that isn’t an issue for students in the Carolinas. Duke University announced Tuesday that they will offer free tuition to North and South Carolina residents who are accepted to the school. This offer is available if the student’s combined family income is less than $150,000. This begins immediately for the fall 2023 semester.
Additionally, Duke is offering even more assistance for students who are residents of the Carolinas with family incomes of $65,000 or less. Duke will provide full tuition grants, plus financial assistance for housing, meals, and some course materials or other campus expenses, without the need for student loans. “We want to make it easier for families to choose Duke,” said Gary Bennett, dean of Duke’s Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. Qualifying first-year students, sophomores, juniors and seniors from the Carolinas will receive financial aid statements by July 1 that reflect this new commitment. Duke expects about 340 students are expected to benefit from this free tuition in the next academic year.

There is no shortage of gorgeous college and University Campuses in the United States. Many look straight out of a movie, in fact, some have had movies filmed there. And if someone were to ask you which you think is the most beautiful you may very well be biased. I know I would be. What makes a campus pretty? Greenspace, architecture, history, and a gorgeous setting, all these are factors that impact beauty. So, bias aside which are the most stunning college campuses in the United States? Our friends over at USA By The Numbers compiled a list of what they feel fit that bill. And they included one North Carolina university as one of the most beautiful college campuses.
The North Carolina institution is the 5th ranked University on this list of most beautiful college campuses.l It’s well known for its basketball team, is located in the Triangle area of North Carolina, and features a shade of blue as its color. Think you know? It’s also an extremely difficult school to get accepted to, as are all of the schools on this list. It’s the only one in the top 5 not in the Northeast as well. I’ve walked through what this author considers the most beautiful, and while yes it’s pretty and charming, I’m not sure I’d put it straight to the top.
