Data Says This South Carolina City Is The Most Sinful In Both Carolinas
It’s a well-known fact that Las Vegas is the “Sin City”. And while there is no debating that Vegas takes the crown, there are other cities in the US that could also fit that description. No one (or city) is perfect and we all have vices and commit sins. Saying otherwise is disingenuous. And our friends at WalletHub set out to find that cities (other than Vegas) that can also be described as sinful. To do this they “compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 37 key indicators of vices and illicit behavior.” This included things like violent crimes, rates of excessive drinking, and “adult entertainment” venues.
Of 182 cities ranked the highest ranking Carolina city was 36. So that’s not too terrible. That city belongs to South Carolina, which edged out North Carolina by just two spots. If I tell you South Carolina what’s your guess for the most sinful city? Mine would have been Myrtle Beach (sorry dirty Myrtle but it would make sense). But nope it was actually Columbia, SC. Here is where each of the Carolina cities ranked:
36. Columbia, SC
38. Charlotte, NC
65. Fayetteville, NC
68. Charleston, SC
110. Greensboro, NC
119. Raleigh, NC
140. Winston-Salem, NC
160. Durham, NC
Looking at this I’m actually shocked that the difference between Charlotte and Raleigh is as wide as it is. That stands out to me more than Columbia and South Carolina being named the most sinful. I know residents have a strong rivalry when it comes to lists like these, but I personally love both cities as I’ve called both “home”. This definitely gives Raleigh some bragging rights though!
