Unwanted North Carolina Dog Finds Home in Unbelievable Way
It just breaks my heart to see animals who are left unwanted. I’m even allergic to most animals, and it totally makes me sad. That said, it’s such a heartwarming thing when a needy pet finds a new home. That’s just what happened with an unwanted North Carolina dog, who is now very wanted and has a loving home.
The Wake County Animal Center, located in Raleigh, has plenty of adorable pets available to adopt. But, it’s often over capacity, which makes it difficult to find these pets homes. It’s even trickier when a pet with health problems needs to find a forever home. Sometimes, the shelter has to go to great lengths to find loving keepers for these pets.
Recently, an older dog with health issues, Elliott, was waiting for a forever home at the Wake County Animal Center. Now, he’s more than 3,000 miles away at the loving California sanctuary called Lucky Ones Ranch. So, how did this happen? According to Myfox8.com, it starts with Alesja Daehnrich, who along with her husband founded The Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary in Rougemont, North Carolina, which usually houses farm animals. “I immediately noticed he was a senior and my heart just broke,” Daehnrich told Myfox8.com. Since Elliott had other health issues, such as a tumor, she knew it would be hard to find him a home.
Since Daehnrich’s dog and cat rescues are often at their max, nobody offered to take in Elliott. So, The Blind Spot shared his story on social media. Then, way out in California, Thao Le saw the post. “My heart just was like, ‘Oh my God, I have to have him. I we have to rescue him.’” Le told Myfox8.com. So, Le and Vince Ones of Lucky Ones Ranch brought him to their home. I truly think it’s inspiring to hear stories such as this one so had to share.
