Charlotte’s Truist Field Named One Of The Best In America
One thing many people love about spring is the return of baseball. Could it be the smell of fresh hot dogs and popcorn under the bright stadium lights? Maybe, the sound of the crowd cheering and the crack of a bat excites fans. Whether you’re a super fan of baseball or going for food and cold beer, a baseball game has something for everyone to enjoy.
Not every city or state has a Major League Baseball team. But there are plenty of minor league baseball teams. Recently, USA Today, 10 Best compiled a list of America’s best minor league ballparks.
“To find the best minor league venues across the country, an expert panel selected their top picks, taking several things into consideration, from atmosphere and amenities to architecture and homages to major league fields or legendary players,” they said. “Readers then voted for their favorites to decide the winners,” they continued.
Truist Field, One Of America’s Best Minor League Ballparks
According to their ranking, Charlotte’s Truist Field snagged spot number 7. Truist Field is home to the Charlotte Knights. The stadium has stunning views of the city’s skyline. The magazine highlighted how fans can “peruse” the Hall of Fame Rotunda. It features plaques of those in the Charlotte Baseball Hall of Fame. They also mentioned the dedicated exhibit for Eddie G.G. Burton, who played in the Negro Leagues.
Following behind Truist Field is the Durham Bulls Athletic Park at number 8. “Home of the Durham Bulls, Class AAA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, this ballpark is a far cry from what you saw in Bull Durham,” they said. The magazine pointed out that the original snorting bull from the 1998 Bull Durham movie hangs above the concourse. And that a modern version of the bull is atop the Blue Monster, the “Fenway-style 32-foot-tall left field wall just 305 feet from the home plate.”
