Boone Residents Told To Shelter In Place
Residents of a Boone Neighborhood have been instructed to shelter in place this afternoon.
A Watauga County deputy has been shot and a standoff situation is now underway in a local Boone neighborhood Wednesday, according to Watauga County Emergency Services.

LAW ENFORCEMENT IS ON SCENE IN AREA. ALL RESIDENTS REMAIN IN YOUR HOME WITH DOORS AND WINDOWS CLOSED.
This situation is still ongoing. We do not currently have any information on the deputy that was shot.
Boone Police is currently assisting the Watauga County Sherriff's Office in the Brown's Chapel Area of Watauga County with an ongoing stand-off. No additional information is available at this time.

EDIT 4:22 pm: Authorities are now saying that two deputies have been shot.
Authorities were called to the home this morning after the residents were not answering calls and did not show up at work. Once deputies arrived they found all vehicles on site. They entered and an unknown person began firing shots.
One deputy was flown to Johnson City Medical Center to receive treatment, and the other deputy was treated at the scene.
The suspect remains barricaded in the home and is periodically firing shots.
