The Best Cities For Naked Gardening
Yes. You read that correctly. Yes, it’s a list. And yes we’ve got the scoop! Do you enjoy gardening? It’s a pretty common hobby. What about gardening in your birthday suit? If so you do you this is a no-judgment zone. There is even a holiday dedicated to naked gardening so you are not alone. Unfortunately, not all cities allow naked gardening. Charlotte, NC however did come in dead in the middle of the pack at number 50 on the list. So it’s somewhat acceptable here. That doesn’t mean you won’t get a nasty look or comment from a less tolerant neighbor.
However, if you live somewhere else you might want to check out the applicable laws in your area.
LawnStarter.com compiled the list which exposes 2021’s Best Cities for Naked Gardening. They came up with the list by taking the 100 biggest U.S. cities and comparing them with nine metrics. These metrics include “the share of the nudist population, local legality of nudity, gardener-friendliness, and whether it’s likely to be sunny and warm on May 1 (Naked Gardening Day)”.

- Austin, TX
- Seattle, WA
- Atlanta, GA
- Portland, OR
- Anaheim, CA
- Orlando, FL
- Riverside, CA
- Irvine, CA
- Santa Ana, CA
Charlotte at number 50 was not the friendliest for naked gardening in the Carolinas. Coming in ahead of us is Winston-Salem at 38 and Durham at 39. Raleigh came in just below us at 51 with Greensboro ranking 54th. No South Carolina cities made the list.
Florida ranks so high as it has some of the highest percentages of nudists. And while the West Coast laws aren’t quite as friendly as other locations California cities had the highest search numbers for naked gardening. They clearly have the strongest interest in the activity.
If you decide to give it a try make sure to load up on sunscreen. Especially for those parts that don’t typically see the sun. Also maybe avoid roses or cacti because you know, that might not feel too nice.
