Charlotte-area Cities Rank Among the Top Places for Technology Jobs
Technology is the future. Jobs in technology are booming and it appears that the COVID-19 pandemic has put more pressure on U.S. tech hubs to make way for emerging tech centers. In fact, much more software and IT services workers left the San Francisco and New York City regions between March 2020 and February 2021 than in the previous year.
Cost may be one factor since living expenses have skyrocketed in established tech hubs. However, tech jobs are available and pay well in some areas of the country due to a lower cost of living.
SmartAsset analyzed data from 50 of the most populous metro areas to determine where tech workers should live and work. Their metrics include the average salary of tech workers, the percentage of recent job listings in tech, and the annual cost of living, among others.
The study showed that the Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia metro areas all rank in the top 15 places to work in technology.
